Ghana's cocoa industry is experiencing a digital revolution as farmers increasingly embrace mobile money and digital payment systems, bringing transparency and efficiency to the traditional agricultural sector.

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has partnered with telecom providers to implement digital payment systems that allow farmers to receive payments directly to their mobile wallets, eliminating intermediaries and reducing transaction costs.

"This system has changed my life," says Akosua Mensah, a cocoa farmer from the Western Region. "I receive my payments immediately and can easily send money to my children's school fees."

The initiative has reached over 100,000 farmers across six regions, with plans to expand nationwide by the end of 2024. Digital adoption has improved price transparency and reduced payment delays that previously plagued the sector.
